Setting Up Your Brand Voice
What Are Voice Profiles?
A voice profile teaches PiccoLeap how you write. Instead of generic AI output, every suggestion matches your tone, vocabulary, and style. This is especially important in higher education where institutional voice matters.
Configuring Your Profile
Navigate to Settings > Voice Profile from the sidebar. You will see three configuration options:
1. Paste Sample Writing
Provide one or more samples of your existing writing. The more examples you give, the better PiccoLeap learns your style. Good samples include:
- Previous grant proposals you are proud of
- Donor communications that received positive feedback
- Reports or memos in your natural voice
2. Adjust Formality Level
Set your preferred formality on a scale from casual to highly formal. Higher education writing typically sits in the professional to formal range, but your preference may vary by audience.
3. Set Tone Preferences
Choose descriptors that match your writing personality:
- Authoritative -- confident, evidence-based
- Warm -- approachable, relationship-focused
- Concise -- direct, to the point
- Narrative -- storytelling, engaging
You can select multiple descriptors.
How AI Uses Your Profile
When you request AI suggestions, PiccoLeap combines:
- Your voice profile (tone, formality, vocabulary)
- The document type (grant, letter, report)
- The current context (what you have written so far)
This produces suggestions that sound like you, not like a chatbot.
Tips for Best Results
- Use recent writing samples that represent your current style
- Update your profile when your role or audience changes
- Provide at least 500 words of sample text for accurate modeling
- Review AI suggestions and accept or reject them -- this helps you refine the balance between your voice and AI assistance
